Using a tinning block to clean and re-tin the tip of your soldering iron after each use:
- Make sure your soldering iron is fully heated.
- Stroke all sides and edges of the hot soldering iron tip across the surface of the sal ammoniac block. After repeated use you may work grooves into the block. Continue to use these grooves to catch the rounded edges of the iron tip.
- Some fumes and/or smoking may occur while using a hot iron tip on the tinning block. Please consider working in a well ventilated area.
